Code of Ethics
Last updated: July 2026
1. Editorial Independence
The Muslim Post maintains absolute editorial independence from all political, commercial, religious, or special interests. Editorial decisions are made solely by our editorial team based on journalistic merit, newsworthiness, and public interest — free from influence by advertisers, owners, donors, sponsors, or external parties.
- No external interference: No external entity has the right to review, approve, or veto content before publication.
- Editorial control: All editorial decisions — including story selection, sourcing, framing, and publication timing — rest exclusively with the editorial team.
- Advertising separation: Advertising, sponsored content, and partnerships are clearly labeled and have no influence on editorial coverage. Advertisers and sponsors receive no preferential editorial treatment.
2. No Pay-for-Coverage
The Muslim Post strictly prohibits pay-for-coverage in any form. We do not accept payment, gifts, favours, or any form of compensation in exchange for news coverage, article placement, or editorial consideration.
- No payment for coverage: We do not charge individuals, organizations, or companies for news coverage, interviews, or article publication.
- No sponsored news: All content that is funded or influenced by external parties is clearly labeled as advertising, sponsored content, or partnership content — and is never presented as independent journalism.
- Gifts and favours: Staff and contributors may not accept gifts, travel, or hospitality that could compromise or appear to compromise editorial integrity.
3. Conflicts of Interest
All staff writers, editors, and contributors must avoid situations that create a conflict between personal interests and editorial duties. Transparency is the guiding principle.
- Disclosure: Any financial, political, personal, or familial relationship that could influence or appear to influence reporting must be disclosed to editorial management.
- Recusal: Staff members with a conflict of interest on a story must recuse themselves from coverage, editing, or assignment decisions related to that story.
- Outside activities: Staff and contributors must not engage in outside work, political activity, or public advocacy that conflicts with the impartiality and credibility of The Muslim Post.
- Financial interests: Staff and contributors must not report on companies, organizations, or sectors in which they hold significant financial interests.
4. Protection of Confidential Sources
We are committed to protecting the identity and trust of confidential sources who provide information in the public interest.
- Source confidentiality: We honour all agreements of anonymity and confidentiality made with sources.
- Legal defence: The Muslim Post will resist any legal efforts to compel disclosure of confidential source identities, up to and including legal defence.
- No payment for information: We do not pay sources for information, interviews, or tips, to ensure information is not fabricated or motivated by financial gain.
- Verification: Information from anonymous sources is corroborated through independent means whenever possible before publication.
5. Diversity of Perspectives
We are committed to representing the full diversity of the communities we cover — across geography, ethnicity, sect, gender, and socioeconomic background.
- Inclusive coverage: We actively seek out and include voices and perspectives that are often underrepresented in mainstream media.
- Respectful language: We use language that is respectful, accurate, and avoids stereotypes or harmful generalizations.
- Balanced reporting: In covering controversies or disputes, we fairly represent the perspectives of all significant parties involved.
6. Human-Written Journalism — No AI Content Generation
The Muslim Post is committed to authentic, human-written journalism. Every article, analysis, opinion piece, and report published on our platform is written by human journalists, editors, and contributors.
- No AI-generated content: We do not use artificial intelligence tools to generate, write, or substantially draft news articles, analysis, opinions, or any editorial content.
- Human editorial control: All content is conceived, researched, reported, written, and edited by human professionals. Every piece published reflects human judgment, expertise, and ethical consideration.
- AI tools limited to assistance: Where AI tools are used — limited strictly to assistive functions such as grammar checking, transcription, translation assistance, or research organisation — the output is always reviewed, verified, and materially revised by a human before publication. No AI-generated text appears in final published content without human authorship and editorial approval.
- Accountability: Every article carries a named human author or editor who takes responsibility for its accuracy and integrity. Machine-generated content cannot be held accountable; human journalists can and are.
7. Accountability & Enforcement
Adherence to this Code of Ethics is a condition of employment and contribution for all staff and contributors at The Muslim Post.
- Reporting violations: Staff and contributors are expected to report suspected violations of this code to editorial management.
- Consequences: Violations of this code may result in editorial review, correction or retraction of affected content, and disciplinary action up to and including termination.
- Public accountability: We welcome feedback from our audience. Concerns regarding ethical conduct or content can be directed to [email protected].
This Code of Ethics is reviewed periodically to ensure it reflects the highest standards of journalistic integrity.
