The Department of Defense has identified 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, 25, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, as one of two U.S. Army soldiers killed in an Iranian ballistic missile and drone attack on Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan on July 17, 2026.
Feehan was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 55th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 32nd Army Air Missile Defense Command at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He previously served as an enlisted soldier in the Hawaii Army National Guard and the Utah Army National Guard’s 2nd Battalion, 222nd Field Artillery while attending Southern Utah University in Cedar City.
The attack occurred while U.S. and partner forces at the base, which hosts U.S. fighter jets and supports regional air operations, defended against Iranian strikes. Four other U.S. service members were wounded and medically evacuated but have since been discharged from Jordanian hospitals. Other personnel sustained minor injuries and returned to duty.

At the time of his death, Feehan’s military awards and decorations included the Combat Action Badge, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Army Service Ribbon. He will be posthumously promoted to captain and awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and Combat Action Badge.
The Department of Defense released his name following notification of next of kin.
