The spokesman for Hamas’s Qassam Brigades, Abu Obeida, said on 2 June that the assassination of resistance leaders would not weaken the movement, stressing that their sacrifices would only strengthen its resolve.

“The bill of reckoning will remain open until it is paid in full and made heavy,” he said, accusing Israel of violating agreements, misreading the situation, and mistaking restraint for weakness.

He added that the blood of slain commanders serves as “the fuel that drives our ship to overcome hardships.”

Abu Obeida paid tribute to recently assassinated senior commanders Izz al-Din Haddad and Mohammed Odeh, describing them as central figures in the development of Qassam’s military capabilities and among the key architects of the 7 October operation.

He said Haddad oversaw the planning, preparation, and execution of the operation before later leading the brigades’ General Staff, while Odeh played a major role in military manufacturing, intelligence, and operational planning.

Addressing the people of Gaza, Abu Obeida said the resistance had heard their calls and witnessed their mass participation in the funerals of the slain leaders.

“It is forbidden for us to betray this blood,” he said, pledging that the resistance would remain loyal to the sacrifices made by Palestinians and continue the path of its fallen commanders.

He expressed confidence that the sacrifices of Gaza’s people would ultimately lead to “a clear and decisive victory.”

The Qassam spokesman also criticized mediators and guarantors of ceasefire agreements, saying Israel’s continued assassinations, daily killings, and violations of its commitments had placed them before a “moment of truth.”

Calling on Arab and Islamic nations to set aside their differences, he urged greater efforts to restrain Israel and compel it to honor its obligations, adding that neutrality was no longer acceptable in what he described as a battle between truth and falsehood.

Abu Obeida concluded by saluting resistance movements across the region, praising those who have confronted Israeli forces and inflicted losses on the occupation. He specifically paid tribute to Lebanon, saying its fighters had “written epics of heroism” in confronting Israeli aggression, while renewing his call for broader regional support for Palestine and the resistance.
