The administration of Tebnine Government Hospital in southern Lebanon has released an official statement firmly rejecting the unfounded accusations that Hezbollah has taken over or is using the hospital for purposes unrelated to healthcare. The hospital described these claims as entirely groundless, lacking any evidence, and completely disconnected from the actual situation on the ground.
They warned that such false narratives are a risky tactic aimed at twisting the truth, creating panic among hospital personnel and local residents, and discouraging patients from accessing necessary medical treatment.
In light of the recent increase in Israeli strikes targeting Lebanese healthcare facilities, the hospital considers these baseless allegations to be highly dangerous excuses that endanger the institution’s security and undermine its ability to provide critical medical services.
To address the accusations, the administration stressed that it is a formal state-run health facility established in 1960, functioning fully in accordance with Lebanese regulations and internationally recognized medical and humanitarian guidelines. The hospital currently employs around 70 nursing, technical, and administrative personnel, along with 10 doctors who are continuing to care for patients amid the ongoing risks from Israeli aggression.
Importantly, the hospital pointed out that the Lebanese Army maintains a permanent daily presence and operates an active dispensary right on the hospital grounds. This provides clear and official state supervision, which completely disproves any suggestions of control by any political faction. In addition, credibility is reinforced by the continuous on-site involvement of International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) teams and doctors, who are actively collaborating with the hospital to deliver patient care.
The administration labeled these unproven claims as a serious infringement on a national humanitarian facility. They have extended an open invitation to local and international media organizations, as well as independent monitoring groups, to visit the hospital and witness its operations directly. Finally, the hospital has urgently called on the Lebanese government and global organizations to take swift action to safeguard the facility, its staff, and ensure the uninterrupted continuation of its medical services in southern Lebanon during these difficult conditions.
