A video showing Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-East Delhi) Sandeep Lamba allegedly assaulting a woman protester during clashes at a demonstration has sparked widespread outrage on social media. “During yesterday’s protest by CJP, Additional DCP of North-East Delhi Sandeep Lamba suffered an injury to his knee, and his police uniform was also torn. He says, ‘…A stone hit my knee. My dress was torn. I suffered a blunt injury and there is a crack…’”
The timing of the statement has drawn sharp criticism, with users accusing it of being a defensive narrative to counter the viral assault clip. Delhi Police has faced accusations of excessive force, with reports of protesters, including young girls, being beaten, and officers allegedly removing badges or acting without restraint.
