Private Isabella Gonzales, 19, of Carrollton, Texas, was identified by the U.S. Department of Defense as one of two service members killed in an Iranian ballistic missile and drone attack on a U.S.-used air base in Jordan on July 17, 2026.
Gonzales held the rank of Private and was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 57th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 52nd Air Defense Artillery Brigade, 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command. She was killed alongside 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, 25, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii.
The soldiers were at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base supporting a U.S. mission against Iran when Iranian forces launched the strike. The attack, which involved ballistic missiles and drones, occurred as U.S. and partner forces defended against the incoming threats. Four other U.S. service members were wounded.
This brought the total U.S. military deaths in the current conflict with Iran to 17. The incident marked the 4th-5th American fatalities from Iranian strikes since March.
Critics of the administration’s handling of the Iran conflict have raised concerns about escalation risks, force protection, and the human cost of prolonged engagement.
